COBDEN, Ill. -- Mary Ellen Wilkins, 86, of Cobden died Friday, Aug. 10, 2001, at the Union County Hospital in Anna, Ill.
She was born July 18, 1915, near Balcom, Ill., the daughter of Homer W. and Hazel Davis Goddard. She and Homer W. Wilkins were married Oct. 27, 1937, in Cape Girardeau. He died July 9, 1992.
She was a registered beautician and graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1933 and Raley's Beauty College in Harrisburg, Ill., in 1934. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cobden for 60 years and taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school. She was a member of the Willing Workers and Golden Circle Sunday school classes.
Survivors include one daughter, Eileen Wilkins of Cobden, and two grandchildren.
Her parents and an infant daughter also preceded her in death.
Friends may call at Lutz & Rendleman Funeral Home in Cobden from 5 to 8 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church of Cobden.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Clifford Heil and the Rev. Dewayne Taylor officiating. Burial will be in the Anna Cemetery.
