VILLA RIDGE, Ill. -- Maurice H. Cheniae, 92, of Villa Ridge, Ill., died at 12:55 p.m. Sunday, June 12, at the Meridian Manor Nursing Home in Mounds, Ill.

He was born at Villa Ridge, Ill., Nov. 19, 1901. His father was William Cheniae, his mother Ida L. Essex Cheniae. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mounds.

He was a retired retail grocery clerk who worked for 29 years at the Cheniae Grocery Store in Villa Ridge.

Survivors include his sister Ruth Hartwell of Villa Ridge. Three nephews and three nieces also survive.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge. Rev. Larry Miller will be officiating. Burial will be in the Beechwood Cemetery at Mounds.

Visitation is between 5-8 p.m. Monday at the Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge.
