EAST PRAIRIE -- Maxine Ward Sherman, 72, of East Prairie died Saturday, March 15, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau

She was born Aug. 9, 1924, in East Prairie, daughter of Georgia Anderson Thomure. She married Buford Ward in 1940 and he preceded her in death on March 10, 1965. She married Clarence Sherman on March 19, 1975, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 14, 1996.

She is survived by two sons, Charles Ward of East Prairie and Claud Ward of DeSoto; one daughter, Linda Davis of Sikeston; two brothers, Earl Thomure or East Prairie and Howard Thomure of Belleville; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. today in the Shelby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bob Williams, pastor of the First General Baptist Church, and Howard Thomure officiating. Burial will be in the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
