Melba McCulley left this earth to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, Dec. 31, 2017.

She was born Aug. 14, 1927, in Bell City, Missouri, the daughter of Harrison and Ida Drew McCulley. She celebrated her 90th birthday in her usual style with friends and family in Cape Girardeau.

Melba was proud and happy to have worked as an elevator operator at the Mayfair and Mark Twain hotels in St. Louis, where she met many celebrities. She moved to Hollywood, California, where she met many more celebrities and married her husband, who was with the Ice Revue, which included Sonja Henie. She was proud of her work at Sav-on Drugs in California and property rental management before she came back to Cape Girardeau to care for her sister.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews and particularly her cherished friends in the River Roses Red Hats of Cape Girardeau, who made her queen of their group and community. They loved her dearly. Her goal in life was to make people happy with her humor and infectious smile that will live forever in the hearts of family and friends as they celebrate her life.
