Mona Ray Scherer, 84, of Dexter, Missouri, formerly of Bell City, Missouri, passed away March 3, 2020, at Winchester Nursing Center in Bernie, Missouri.

She was born March 12, 1935, at Puxico, Missouri, the daughter of Jack and Helen Livers Jones.

Mona had been a homemaker and later worked at Dexter Bar-B-Que. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Dexter. She enjoyed sewing.

Mona and Robert L. Scherer were united in marriage Feb. 5, 1953, in Dexter, and he preceded her in death Nov. 4, 2008.

Survivors include sons, David (Bev) Scherer of Bell City, Danny (Marlene) Scherer of Oran, Missouri, Greg (Rita) Scherer of Bloomfield, Missouri, and Chris (Susan) Scherer of Oran; daughter, Gale Ann Janosek of Allen, Texas; brother, Jimmy Jones of Houston; sister, Wanda Vancil of Dexter; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Dennis Scherer; daughter, Regina Scherer; and brother, Scott Jones.

Visitation will be from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance, Missouri. A prayer service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dexter, with the Rev. William Hennecke officiating. Burial will follow at Dexter Memorial Park in Dexter.
