Nelson D. Patrick, 80, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Oct. 6, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born April 8, 1923, in Cape Girardeau, son of William and Lorene Scherf Patrick. He and Geraldine "Jerry" Froemsdorf were married Nov. 15, 1941, in Cape Girardeau
Mr. Patrick spent his entire working career in dry cleaning, purchasing the former Nu-Way Dry Cleaners business in the early 1950s, renaming it Patrick's Dry Cleaners. He retired in 1985. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Janet Gluesing and husband Larry of Cape Girardeau; two grandsons, James Patrick Newcomer of Belleville, Ill., Daniel Eugene Newcomer of Jackson; three great-grandchildren, Dana, Caleb and Brittany Newcomer.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Leonard and Vernon Patrick.
Friends may call Thursday at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau from 11 a.m. until service time.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Douglas Breite officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Trinity Lutheran School Building Fund or Southeast Hospice.
