NEW HAMBURG, Mo. -- Norbert Peter Kluesner, 93, of New Hamburg died Thursday, April 24, 2014, at his home.

He was born Nov. 20, 1920, in St. Joseph, Tenn., to John Henry and Elizabeth Reischman Kluesner. He and Arabella Stella Menz were married Nov. 27, 1945, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in New Hamburg.

Norbert was a farmer and carpenter. He was a member of St. Lawrence Church and St. Joseph's Sodality.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and fought at the Battle of the Bulge.

Survivors include his wife, Arabella; a daughter, Mary Lillian Kluesner of Sikeston, Mo.; two sons, William (Teri) Kluesner of Altenburg, Mo., and Norman (Dianna) Kluesner of New Hamburg; two brothers, Alfred Kluesner of Chaffee, Mo., and Leonard (Edna) Kluesner of New Hamburg; three sisters, Henrietta Dirnberger of New Hamburg, Semina (Lester) Seyer of Oak Ridge and Angela (Charles) Klueppel of Benton, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Barbara Ann Dowdy-Trabke; a sister; and a grandchild.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Amick-Burnett Chapel in Benton. Parish Prayers will be at 7 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Lawrence Church, with the Rev. Michael Casteel as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery with full military honors.
