Norma Jones, 85, of Columbia, S.C., formerly of Jackson, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007, at National Healthcare Parklane in Columbia. Jones was born Aug. 2, 1922, at Holdrege, Neb., daughter of Jesse A. and J. Augusta Alstorm Davis. She was married Sept. 13, 1947, to Henry L. "Heine" Jones in Denver. He died March 1, 1979...

Norma Jones, 85, of Columbia, S.C., formerly of Jackson, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2007, at National Healthcare Parklane in Columbia.

Jones was born Aug. 2, 1922, at Holdrege, Neb., daughter of Jesse A. and J. Augusta Alstorm Davis. She was married Sept. 13, 1947, to Henry L. "Heine" Jones in Denver. He died March 1, 1979.

Jones graduated from Holdrege High School in Holdrege. She then attended the University of Nebraska and Kearney State Teachers College. After graduation she worked in Kansas City, Mo., for Behrens and Miles Court Reporters from 1942 to 1959. In 1959 she started working for Judge Marshall Craig in the circuit courts of Cape Girardeau, Scott and Mississippi counties, retiring in 1981. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Jackson and was a member of the Esther-Hannah Circle. In 1974 she was ordained as an elder in the church. She was ordained as a deacon in 1978. She was also a member of PEO Chapter DJ of Jackson and in 1979 held the office of executive secretary of the state chapter.

She is survived by a daughter, Ann Jones of Columbia.

She was preceded in death by a brother.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church in Jackson.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with Dr. Grant F. C. Gillard officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
