PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Norma Jean Schumer, 67, of Perryville died Aug. 5, 2020, at her home in Perryville, surrounded by her family. She was born Sept. 13, 1952, in Perry County, daughter of Ludwig William Christisen and Evelyn Mary Schremp Christisen Schubert. She and Gary Schumer were married Jan. 31, 1970. PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Norma Jean Schumer, 67, of Perryville died Aug. 5, 2020, at her home in Perryville, surrounded by her family.

She was born Sept. 13, 1952, in Perry County, daughter of Ludwig William Christisen and Evelyn Mary Schremp Christisen Schubert. She and Gary Schumer were married Jan. 31, 1970. He survives in Perryville.

Norma was a devoted grandmother and homemaker. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

Other survivors include one son, Doug Schumer of Perryville; brothers, David Christisen of Iowa, Theodore "Teddy" (Patsy Hecht) Christisen of Jackson, Roy (Shirley) Christisen of Minnith, Missouri, and Allen (Renee) Christisen of Perryville; sisters, Patricia (Rod) Torbert of Perryville, Donna Mahnken of Perryville, Loretta Wood of Perryville and Judy (Bob) Fry of Tampa, Florida; sisters-in-law, Anna Mae Christisen, Pat Christisen and Linda Christisen; grandchildren, Brittany, Taylor, Matt, Chase, Autumn, Dalton, Justin and Kowin; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Jason Schamburg; brothers, Merlin, Robert, Larry, Kenneth and Ronald Christisen; sisters, Carolyn Grindstaff and Terrie Favier; brother-in-law, Neal Mahnken; and sister-in-law, Nancy Christisen.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville.

Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Jason Schumer officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Vincent de Paul Schools or Church.

Ford and Young Funeral Home Inc. in Perryville provided the arrangements.
