Ollie S. Hopkins, age 87, of Jackson passed away on Friday, August 20, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center. He was born on July, 1, 1912 in Cape Girardeau, the son of Artie Hopkins and Treacy E. Slinkard. He married Frances Marian Sharp on September 23, 1954 in Hernando, Miss. She preceded him in death on June 6, 1999...

Ollie S. Hopkins, age 87, of Jackson passed away on Friday, August 20, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center. He was born on July, 1, 1912 in Cape Girardeau, the son of Artie Hopkins and Treacy E. Slinkard. He married Frances Marian Sharp on September 23, 1954 in Hernando, Miss. She preceded him in death on June 6, 1999.

Mr. Hopkins was a member of Order of Eastern Star, Past Worthy Patron, Bellview Chapter in Bellview Florida, International Order of Odd Fellows, Lutesville Lodge #385, St. Marks Lodge AF & AM #93 in Cape Girardeau, past member of the Third Street Methodist Church in Cape and the Broadway Methodist Church in Scott City and Illmo United Methodist Church in Illmo, Mo. He also play softball and timed wrestling matches and a member of the Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Club. He was previously employed at Florsheim Shoe Factory in Cape and later was a deckhand on the river. He was a veteran of the WWII in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by three daughters, Mary Hopkins Miller of Jackson, Mo., Amber Meadors Glisson of Ocala, Fla., and Judith Meadors Sims of Dallas, Tex.; seven grandchildren, Sondra J. Sims and Ashley Rhea Sims both of Oklahoma, Maegan E. Miller and Amber K, Miller both of Jackson, Bryan M. Miller of Lehigh Acres, Fla., Robert A Glisson of Tampa, Fla. and Robbyn E. Glisson of Seattle, Wash.; three great grandchildren, Timothy R. Daulong of Oklahoma, Bradley Glisson of Tampa, Fla., Bryan John Miller of Lehigh Acres, Fla.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Edwin Hopkins and one grandchild, Rebecca Lynn Sims. Visitation was held Saturday, August, 21, 1999, at Mt. Auburn Chapel, with a Masonic Service. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, August 22, 1999. Final disposition will be held at Silver Springs Shores Presbyterian Church in Ocala, Fla.
