OPAL STOKES

EAST PRAIRIE -- Funeral service for Opal Stokes, 74, of East Prairie, will be at 2 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Chapel in East Prairie with George White officiating. Burial will be in East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.

She died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

She was born Jan. 6, 1925, in Wolf Island, Mo., daughter of Arthur and Lula B. Frazier Worthy.

She married Nesby Len Stokes on Oct. 27, 1945. He died March 30, 1973.

She had lived most of her life in Mississippi County.

Survivors include six sons, Kenny Stokes of Colstrip, Mont., Herschel Stokes of Memphis, Mike Stokes of New Madrid, Steve Stokes, Freddie Stokes, and Johnny Stokes, all of East Prairie; a daughter, Debbie Stokes of East Prairie; and nine grandchildren.

Three brothers preceded her in death.
