Patricia Louise Scheel, 80, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2023, at Chateau Girardeau.

She was born Sept. 4, 1942, in Sturgis, South Dakota, to Ervin C. and Lucille Boehmer Anderson. She and Dennis Orville Scheel were married May 29, 1970, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He preceded her in death July 26, 2005.

Patricia was a graduate of Grafton (North Dakota) High School, where she was a majorette in the marching band that performed at many venues across the country, including the Orange Bowl in Miami. She also was crowned North Dakota State Potato Queen in 1960.

Patricia held a variety of administrative and retail positions throughout her life. However, her favorite occupation was being a wonderful mom.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, United Women in Faith and Mary Jane Statler Circle.

Survivors include a daughter, Denise Nuehring of Louisville, Kentucky; son, Jason D. (Jill Turner) Scheel of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin; and sister, Karen N. (Darrell) Bohn of Phoenix.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dennis Orville Scheel; and two brothers, Curt and David Anderson.

There will be a celebration of life from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, at Grace United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau, with a funeral at 2 p.m. officiated by the Rev. Linda Gastreich.

The family will have a private interment at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau.
