KATY, Texas -- Peter Dines Nelson, 55, of Katy, formerly of Cape Girardeau, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017, at his home.

He was born Sept. 1, 1962, in St. Louis to the late Lewis Cass and Margarette Fischer Nelson. He and Linda Piccione were married Sept. 18, 1993, in Houston.

Pete loved basketball, even working for years as a youth-league referee. He was the starting center for the 1980 state champion Tigers before graduating from Cape Girardeau Central High School in 1980. He had a passion for the game of golf, and more importantly his beloved children.

He was a 1984 graduate of the University of Texas-Austin, a certified public accountant and longtime partner in the public accounting firm LBB & Associates of Houston.

Loving survivors include his wife, Linda Nelson; three children, Michael Nelson of Katy, Kylie Chrisman of Austin and Jefferson Sewell of Houston: a brother, David (JoAnne) Nelson of Fairhope, Alabama; his father-in-law, James Piccione of Kingwood, Texas; sisters and brothers-in-laws, Christine and John Walker of Denver, and David Piccione and Carol and Joe Biondi, all of The Woodlands, Texas; a host of nieces and nephews from New York City to California; as well as numerous other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Nancy Martin.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Katy.

The family suggests contributions be made to a cancer charity of your choice.
