Ray Underdown, 60, of Cape Girardeau passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at Southeast Missouri Hospital

He was born Oct. 14, 1947, in Cincinnati to Charles "Ed" and Aileen Brummett Underdown. He and Linda Rodgers Mireles were married March 20, 1998, in Cincinnati.

Underdown proudly served his country in Korea from August 1967 to August 1969.

He worked for American Laundry and Planet Products of Cincinnati, and retired from Leggett and Platt of Cape Girardeau.

Underdown answered the call to participate in the ministry of First Pentecostal Church of Cape Girardeau in November 2005. He and his wife served in the outreach ministry. He received a 25-year membership pin from Masonic Lodge 228 in Owensville, Ohio.

He loved to fish, spending many summer days and evenings exploring the local lakes and ponds trying to find the best fishing spot. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him because all who knew him loved him.

Survivors include his wife; his mother, Aileen Underdown Waller of Cincinnati; a son, Kenneth Underdown of Cincinnati; two daughters, Angie (Rob) Bohl of Mount Orab, Ohio, Angela (Kevin) Moore of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Daniel (Gail) Underdown of Independence, Ky.; three sisters, Evelyn (Eugene) Osborne of Cincinnati, Carol (Mike) Neugenbauer of West Chester, Ohio, Marlene Kreate of Cincinnati; four granddaughters, Ashley Underdown, Jada Bohl, Danielle Underdown, and Caroline Moore; along with many loving relatives and cherished friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles "Ed" Underdown, and stepfather, Jay Waller.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home, and from 1 p.m. to service time Sunday at First Pentecostal Church. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30 Saturday.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the church, with the Rev. Darrell Faire Sr. officiating. Interment will be in Cape County Memorial Park with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Pentecostal Church of Cape Girardeau on Lexington Avenue.
