CHESTERFIELD, Mo. -- Raymond Leon Haupt, a native of Millersville, passed away Monday, May 13, 2019, in Chesterfield at the age of 91.

He was the son of Wilson S. and Cora Moore Haupt. Ray was married to the former Mary Evelyn Cobble of Oak Ridge, who passed away in 1999.

His brother, Loy, also preceded him in death in 2014.

Ray graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1944 and attended Southeast Missouri State Teachers College before enlisting in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was selected for flight training and upon graduation was commissioned a second lieutenant in the newly formed U.S. Air Force. Following a distinguished 30-year aviation career, he retired in 1975 at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona, with the rank of brigadier general.

He lived in Tucson until he moved back to Missouri in 2015.

He was a member of Caney Fork Baptist Church.

Ray is survived by his son, Stuart, and daughter-in-law, Vicki, of Wildwood, Missouri; grandson, Matt, and wife, Elizabeth, and three great-grandchildren, Emma, Mackenzie and Dylan, of Columbia, Missouri; sister-in-law, Nelta Haupt, and nephew, Brian, of Millersville.

Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Jackson.

Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial, with military honors, will follow immediately at Cape County Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Avenue of Flags, 1049 N. Kingshighway, Cape Girardeau, MO 63703 or Brookside War Memorial, 1011 W. Jackson Blvd., Jackson, MO 63755.
