Rev. Berthold J. Loesel, 98, formerly of Perryville, Mo., died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2005, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Sept. 12, 1907, in Frankenmuth, Mich., son of Andrew and Christina Reiss Loesel. He and Bernice M. Emelia Bock were married July 31, 1932. She died March 16, 2002.

Loesel was a minister of the Gospel-Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. He served from 1932 to 1943 at St. John Lutheran Church in Moundridge, Kan., from 1943 to 1960 at First Lutheran Church in Paola, Kan., and from 1960 to 1972 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Farmington, Mo.

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and Berean Bible Class in Perryville.

Survivors include a son, Frederic Loesel of St. Louis; three daughters, Lois Fehrmann of Jackson, Esther Wuebben of Peshtigo, Wis., and Myra Bertram of Farmington; 17 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Thomas Handrick officiating. Burial will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Concordia Seminary student Scott Jensen or the Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville was in charge of arrangements.
