WESLACO, Texas -- Richard Irl Prevallet, aged 83 years, 10 months and 17 days, died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2017, at Weslaco.

He was born Jan. 13, 1934, at Perryville, Missouri, the son of Irl E. Prevallet and Nellie Propst Prevallet Porter. He was the stepson of Clarence "Red" Porter.

Richard graduated from Immanuel Lutheran Grade School in 1948, from Perryville High School in Perryville, Missouri, in 1952 and from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau in 1956.

He was employed by the Internal Revenue Service for 32 years and retired in February 1989.

He was a member of the Pine to Palm Church at Weslaco,

Richard is survived by a son, Richard "Rick" Prevallet of Cass County, Missouri; stepchildren, Richard C. Niswonger of Buckeye, Arizona, Kevin (Cathy) Alfultis of St. Louis, Cindy (Rick) Romanowski of Austin, Texas, and Matthew Jones of Columbia, Missouri; and stepgrandchildren, Ashley (Tim) Kraemer of Lebanon, Missouri, and Mitchell (Maggie) Baltzell of Cape Girardeau.

He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather; a son, Bradley Vincent Prevallet; stepbrothers, Clarence Harold Porter and Robert Lee Porter; and a stepsister, Gwendolyn Carol Porter Tipp.

Richard's body was donated to Science Care in Phoenix.

It is requested all memorials go to the Prevallet-Porter Endowment Fund (for handicapped students) at Southeast Missouri State University.
