KIRKWOOD, Mo. -- Richard Carroll Wilson, 83, of Kirkwood passed away Saturday, March 24, 2018, at home after a long illness, surrounded by family.

He was born Jan. 31, 1935, in Cape Girardeau to the late Albert George and Gladys Alma Scherrer Wilson.

Richard graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a degree in industrial engineering. He worked for the Missouri Department of Transportation, proudly served in the Army's 3rd Infantry in Germany and retired from All State Distributors.

He was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Kirkwood.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Pat Witting Wilson; three children, Diane (Jeff) McCoy, Scott Wilson and Beth (Scott) Deichmann; six grandchildren, Greg (Jillian) McCoy, Amanda McCoy, Brayden Wilson, Kaylee Wilson, Justin Deichmann and Jacob Deichmann; a great-grandchild, Charleston McCoy; and a cousin, Mike Noland.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Betty Lou and Dorothy Ann; and a great-granddaughter, Sophia McCoy.

The family would like to thank Nurses & Company Hospice Care for their excellent Christian care.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

A celebration of life memorial service will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Kevin Coffee officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery with military honors.
