CAIRO, Ill. -- Rita Helen Hartmann, age 93, of Cairo died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018, at Oakview Nursing and Rehab in Calvert City, Kentucky.
She was born in Cairo on April 14, 1924, to William F. and Rita Rose Lehning Hartmann.
Rita Helen was Vice President of First Bank and Trust Company, now National Bank in Cairo, before her retirement. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cairo, St. Pat's Ladies' Sodality and the Ginko Garden Club. She was also a member of the original board that formed Daystar Care Center and remained on the Board for many years. Rita Helen enjoyed bowling and won many trophies. She also loved playing bridge, spades and rummy.
Rita Helen is survived by her nieces, Karen Wadley of Paducah, Kentucky, Diane Boget of Villa Ridge, Illinois, Debbie (Richard) Hertenstein of Clinton, Illinois, Rita (Steve) Crain of Wildwood, Missouri, and Amy Hartmann, of Destin, Florida; her nephews, William (Velina) Hartmann of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, and Danny (Brenda) Hartmann, of Mt. Vernon, Indiana; many great nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Rita Helen was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, William Hartmann, Harry Hartmann, and James Hartmann.
Visitation for Rita Helen Hartmann will be from 11 a.m. to noon Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cairo with the Mass of Christian Burial beginning at noon with Fr. Chris Mujule as celebrant. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Villa Ridge, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital and St. Patrick's Catholic Church and will be accepted at the Church.
