PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Rita T. Winkler, 91, of Perryville died Friday, Jan. 6, 2017, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Nov. 10, 1925, in Claryville, Missouri, daughter of Benjamin J. and Rosa A. Zoellner Schott. She married Albert Hugo Winkler on June 28, 1947. He preceded her in death Oct. 9, 1997.
Rita was a homemaker, co-owner of Winkler Service Station and provided child care in her home for years. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. She loved quilting, gardening and cooking, and was an avid fan of St. Louis Cardinals baseball.
Survivors include four daughters, Wanda (Bob) Guth of Tucson, Arizona, Judy Schaaf (Joe) Wheeler of Ironton, Missouri, Brenda (Carl) Eggers of Perryville and Sheila (Rick) Bodenschatz of Wildwood, Missouri; two brothers and one sister, Chalmer Schott of Littleton, Colorado, Wilma Fiala of Loveland, Colorado, and Glennon (Pat) Schott of Belleville, Illinois; nine grandchildren; two step-granddaughters; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one sister, Elda Franklin; one son-in-law, Dennis W. Schaaf; and one infant grandson, Nicholas Schaaf.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, with a rosary at 9:30 a.m., at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville.
She will then be taken to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church for Mass at 11 a.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Milton Ryan CM officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Memorials are preferred to St. Vincent de Paul Schools.
