Robert Eugene Amschler, 79, of Cape Girardeau passed away Monday, Jan. 11, 2016, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
He was born June 28, 1936, in Perryville, Missouri, to Gilbert and Olivia (Buchheit) Amschler.
He and Viola Pingel were married Jan. 3, 1959, in Biehle, Missouri.
Bob served in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. He worked for Gerhardt Construction Company for 20 years and Kiefner Brothers Inc. for 20 years. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Viola Amschler of Cape Girardeau; six children, Gregory (Kim) Amschler of Perryville, Patrick (Kim) Amschler of Jackson, Maria (Roger) Unterriener of Valley Park, Missouri, Vincent (Carla) Amschler of Festus, Missouri, and Anastasia (John) Gonzales and Angela (Aaron) Dombrowski, all of Cape Girardeau; sisters, Mary Jane Buchheit of Old Appleton and Jo Ann White of Watseka, Illinois; a brother, Donald (Judy) Amschler of Foristell, Missouri; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 4 to 8 p.m. at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Bobby Manso officiating.
Burial with full military rites will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Michael's Cemetery in Apple Creek.
