ROBERT J. SIDES

Funeral service for Robert John Sides, 6887 State Highway Y, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel. The Rev. S.S. Borum will officiate.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today.

Sides, 83, died Monday, Sept. 18, 1995, at his home.

He was born Jan. 2, 1912, at Pocahontas, son of Arthur and Nellie Abernathy Sides. He and Erma Kraemer were married March 4, 1939, in Jackson. She died Oct. 10, 1976.

Sides had lived in Cape Girardeau County all his life. He was a farmer and also a deckhand with Corps of Engineers, retiring Dec. 1, 1973. He was a member of Iona Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Sue Clifton of Cape Girardeau; four brothers, Elmer Sides of St. Paul, Minn., Esco Sides of Pacific, Raymond Sides of Jackson, Arnold sides of Blue Mound, Ill.; a sister, Erma Owens Childers of Jackson; two grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren, and four great-stepgrandchildren.
