Robert Lee Ray, 66, 1105 Giboney, died Thursday, April 16, 1998, at his home. He was born March 3, 1932, in New Albany, Miss., son of Lee and Vistie Leddell Ray. He was a janitor at Louis J. Schultz School in Cape Girardeau and a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. He moved to Cape Girardeau from Brownsville, Tenn., 35 years ago...

Robert Lee Ray, 66, 1105 Giboney, died Thursday, April 16, 1998, at his home.

He was born March 3, 1932, in New Albany, Miss., son of Lee and Vistie Leddell Ray.

He was a janitor at Louis J. Schultz School in Cape Girardeau and a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. He moved to Cape Girardeau from Brownsville, Tenn., 35 years ago.

He is survived by a stepson, Charles Junior Harris of Newton, Iowa; two daughters, Pauline V. Smith of Cahokia, Ill., and Katherine Harris of Columbia; three stepdaughters, Lucille Patterson and Gertrude Smith, both of Cape Girardeau, and Linda Pearson of Newton; five brothers, Lee Ray Jr. and Hubert Ray, both of Osceola, Ark., Lawson Ray of Brownsville, Chris Payne of Atlanta, Ga., and Robert Jones of Sikeston; five sisters, Lorene Lucky of Cape Girardeau, Virginia Wright, Mary Sheron and Louise Stewart, all of Chicago, and Betty Shields of Brownsville; six grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, two stepsons and a sister.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
