Robert "Bob" Scheper Sr., 87, of Jackson passed away Sunday, Jan. 15, 2018, at the Monticello House in Jackson, Missouri.

He was born Aug. 23, 1930, in Jackson, son of Clarence and Nellie Lee Gallent Scheper. He and Glenda K. Durham were married June 6, 1995, in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania.

Bob enlisted in the United States Army Oct. 26, 1954, serving his country in the Korean War and was honorably discharged Oct. 11, 1956. He went on to serve in the Army Reserves until Sept. 30, 1962. Bob was a former owner of Semo Alarm System. He worked for the former R.B. Potashinck Construction Company. He retired from the Natural Gas Pipeline of America as a fuel truck driver and was a business agent for Teamsters Local 574. He was a member of the Cape Girardeau VFW post 3838, Altenthal-Joerns American Legion Post 158 in Jackson, was a 50 year member of Excelsior Masonic Lodge 441 in Jackson and Moolah Shriners Temple St. Louis. His "pride and joy" was working on his farm. His other favorite pastimes were crappie fishing, turkey hunting, gardening, cooking fudge candy, canning vegetables and making sauerkraut.

Loving survivors include his loving wife Glenda of 22 years; two sons, Robert Ray (Beth) Scheper Jr. of Jackson and Kevin (Kristy) Martin of Ocala, Florida; two daughters, Lisa Scheper of Splendora, Texas, and Linda Connell of West Palm Garden, Florida; one sister, Doris Baker of State College, Pennsylvania.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Jake (Katie) Scheper, Ben (Chelsea) Carter, Tyler, Ellayna, Hailee, Brandon, and Austin Martin; and two great-grandchildren, Peyton Scheper and Emma Carter.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence "Sonny" Scheper, and a sister, Clarice Brown.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. A Masonic service will begin at 5 p.m.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating.

Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson with military honors.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Shriners Hospital or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
