Robert Louis Stevenson, 79, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Oct. 22, 1998, at his home. He was born Aug. 15, 1919, in Urbana, son of George T. and Edith Henderson Stevenson. He and Nina Jones were married July 10, 1954, in Jacksonville, Ill. Stevenson was reared in the Champaign-Urbana area, and attended the University of Illinois. Robert Louis Stevenson, 79, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Oct. 22, 1998, at his home.

He was born Aug. 15, 1919, in Urbana, son of George T. and Edith Henderson Stevenson. He and Nina Jones were married July 10, 1954, in Jacksonville, Ill.

Stevenson was reared in the Champaign-Urbana area, and attended the University of Illinois. He moved to Cape Girardeau in 1971 from St. Louis.

He was an electro-mechanical engineer and had worked at Superior Electric Co. 10 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of First Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Robert Stevenson Jr. of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Linda Green of Cape Girardeau, Nancy Matherne of Nashville, Tenn.; a brother, F. Herbert Stevenson of Potomac, Ill.; two sisters, Mary Winter of Hidalgo, Ill., and Emily Stevenson of Mesa, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by three brothers.

There is no visitation.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church, with the Rev. Phil Curran officiating. Inurnment will be in Memorial Park.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
