SIKESTON -- Roma Duke, 75, of Sikeston died Monday, Sept. 23, 1996, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born May 14, 1921, on Woods Mountain near Hagersville, Ark., daughter of John F. and Nellie Skaggs White. She and E.R. Duke were married Feb. 28, 1940. He died Sept. 13, 1974.
Duke had lived in the Parma, Lilbourn, Morehouse and Bloomfield areas. She had worked at Monoco Egg Co., and operated a foster home in Bloomfield from 1975-84. She moved to Sikeston six years ago.
Survivors include two sons, Dennis Duke of Torrance, Calif., John Duke of Dexter; a daughter, Denola Duke of Steele; four sisters, Floye Creed of Bloomfield, Velva Farris of Puyallup, Wash., Marie Bean of Seattle, Wash., Effie Allen of Lilbourn; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Friends may call at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Keith DeFries officiating. Burial will be in Bernie Cemetery at Bernie.
