DEXTER -- Ruby Holmes Hamilton, 85, of Dexter died Friday, May 28, 1999, at Dexter Nursing Center.
She was born May 10, 1914, at Dexter, daughter of Edward Benson and Ida Jane Cara O'Dell. She and Raymond H. Holmes were married Oct. 17, 1936. He died April 18, 1966. She and Albert L. Hamilton were married May 14, 1976, at Dexter. He died Aug. 27, 1992.
The Holmes owned and operated the Blue Grill Cafe and the Pig Drive-in at Dexter until 1966. She moved to Rives, Tenn., in 1973 and then back to Dexter in 1993.
Survivors include a son, Harold Holmes of Dexter; a daughter, Wanda Trammell of Dexter; two brothers, Thoron O'Dell of California, Darrell O'Dell of Illinois; five sisters, Lucille, Sylvia, Eleanor, Sue and Charlotte, all of Illinois; five grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, a brother, and a sister.
Friends may call at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Tim Russell officiating. Burial will be in Dexter Cemetery.
