GREENVILLE, Mo. -- Rulen Spies, 82, son of the late, Rulen "Sam" and Reva Pruitt Spies, was born June 11, 1939, in Zalma, Missouri, and departed his life on Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2021 at his home in Greenville.
On May 20, 1967, he was united in marriage to Norma Darlene Lufcy in Benton, Missouri. She survivors of the home in Greenville.
He was an independent contractor of S & S Builders, affiliated with the Baptist faith and a resident of Greenville. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and an avid hunter.
Besides his wife, survivors include a son, Norman (Becky) Spies of Scott City; daughter Elizabeth Hanner of El Paso, Texas; five grandchildren, Layne (Alle) Spies, Hayle Spies (Stetson), Ryan Lyle, Colin Lyle and Cody Daub; a very special grandson, Tucker Spies; three sisters, Clara Westrich of Chaffee, Missouri; Virginia Ledford of Tennessee and Fimble Kay Enderle of New Hamburg; also, by other relatives and many close friends.
Besides his parents, Rulen was preceded in death by a son, Rulen Knox; two brothers, Paul and Ray Spies; and a sister, Barbara Westrich.
Visitation will be from 3:30 until 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.
Memorial service will follow at 5 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Rennie Phillips officiating.
