RUSTY SMITHEY

ANNA, Ill. -- William Guy "Rusty" Smithey, 100, of Anna died Thursday, May 20, 1999, at Union County Hospital.

He was born March 19, 1899, in Alexander County, son of Henry and Drucilla Marshlee Baldwin Smithey. He and Minnie Hazel Harvel were married Oct. 21, 1922. She died Sept. 5, 1957. He later married Nellie Dillow Aug. 4, 1960, at Mill Creek. She died July 11, 1983.

Smithey had been a section hand with GM&O Railroad 47 years. He was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include a stepson, Clifton Sensmeier of Cobden; a sister, Jewell Hunter of Jonesboro; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; 23 great-stepgrandchildren; and a great-great-stepgrandchild.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, a grandson, a great-grandson, a stepson, seven brothers, and five sisters.

Friends may call at Hileman and Parr Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. Sunday.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jerry Ford officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.
