EAST PRAIRIE -- Ruth J. Lyke, 86, of East Prairie, died Thursday, July 2, 1998, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. She was born Sept. 9, 1911, in East Prairie, daughter of Ernest F. and Anna Pope Mansfield. She married Paul B. Oliver, who preceded her in death. She later married Ralph E. Lyke. He died in 1974...

EAST PRAIRIE -- Ruth J. Lyke, 86, of East Prairie, died Thursday, July 2, 1998, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

She was born Sept. 9, 1911, in East Prairie, daughter of Ernest F. and Anna Pope Mansfield.

She married Paul B. Oliver, who preceded her in death. She later married Ralph E. Lyke. He died in 1974.

She taught school in Mississippi County a number of years before moving to Detroit, Mich. She returned to East Prairie in 1984.

She was a member of the First Christian Church at East Prairie.

Survivors include a niece and a nephew.

She was preceded in death by two sisters.

Service will be held today at 2 p.m. in the Shelby Funeral Home Chapel at East Prairie, with Brother Fred Girdwood officiating. Burial will be in East Prairie Memorial Park.

Friends may call after 11 a.m. today at the funeral home.
