Ruth E. Schweer, 85, of Jackson passed away Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Feb. 22, 1929, near Neelys Landing, to Carl and Kate Bray Noland. She and George B. Schweer were married Feb. 22, 1951, in Old Appleton, Missouri. They had been married almost 55 years when he passed away Jan. 7, 2006.

Ruth was a graduate of the former College High School in Cape Girardeau. Upon earning her teaching certificate, she taught at the former elementary school at Indian Creek. She later earned a master's degree in education and taught math and science in public schools at Benton, Missouri, Cape Girardeau and Jackson, retiring in 1985.

She was a member of Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson and its former Friendship Circle.

Loving survivors include three daughters, Pam (Tom) Schulte of Gordonville, Kathy (Gary) Turner and Cheri (Randy) Sander both of Jackson; eight grandchildren, Sami Schulte (Kennett Asher) and son Hunter of Jackson, Janna (Travis) Clifton and children Presley, Sawyer and Georgia of Jackson, Josh (Jennifer) Turner and daughters Katy, Molly and Anna of Jackson, Ben (Stephanie) Turner and sons Bryce and Noah of Jackson, Thor Bodenstein of Columbia, Missouri, Shelly Bodenstein of Jackson, Kelsey Sander and son Jodah of Jackson and Stetson (Kacie) Sander of Ocean Side, California.

Also surviving are two siblings, Joe (Norma Lei) Noland of Maui, Hawaii and Judy (Jerry) Rapp of Tomah, Wisconsin; and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Jeff Schweer; two grandsons, Jacob and Joseph Bodenstein; two sisters; and four brothers.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Dr. Rodney Pensel officiating. Interment will be in the cemetery of St. John's United Church of Christ in Fruitland.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society, St. John's Cemetery Fund or McLain Chapel Cemetery Fund.
