SIKESTON -- Funeral service for Sadie Marie "Sister" Lambert of Sikeston will be held at 1 p.m. today at West End Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor Ronald Williams Sr. will officiate, with burial in Sunset of Memories Cemetery.

Friends may call at the church from 11 a.m. until service time.

Williams-Farr and Purnell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lambert, 81, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 1997, at her home, following an extended illness.

She was born April 29, 1916, in Meridian, Miss., daughter of William and Albany Houston Grant. She married McKinley Lambert Sr., who preceded her in death.

Lambert had lived in Sikeston since 1945. She was a member of West End Church and its Women's Missionary Society and Senior Choir, and had served on the Usher Board and had been a Sunday School teacher.

Survivors include six sons, Charles Owens of Seattle, Wash., Walter Brookins, Charles Grant and Eddie Lambert of Sikeston, McKinley Lambert Jr. of Louisville, Ky., Linzie Lambert, address unknown; five daughters, Marie Hunt and Alberta Miller of Sikeston, Juanita Collins of St. Louis, Mae Stevenson of Chicago, Marilyn Lambert of Marianna, Ark.; a sister, Octavia Green of Sikeston; 46 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, and a grandson.
