Samuel Isaiah "Sam" Johnston Sr, 86, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Millersville, passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2021, in Marble Hill, Missouri. He had been in the care of his nephew, Chuck (Sharon) Cathcart, for nearly two weeks. He was born May 3, 1934, in Sedgewickville, Missouri, son of Otis Rudolph and Ida Mae Seabaugh Johnston. Samuel Isaiah "Sam" Johnston Sr, 86, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Millersville, passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2021, in Marble Hill, Missouri. He had been in the care of his nephew, Chuck (Sharon) Cathcart, for nearly two weeks.

He was born May 3, 1934, in Sedgewickville, Missouri, son of Otis Rudolph and Ida Mae Seabaugh Johnston. He and Lena Cathcart were married July 2, 1955, in Sedgewickville. She passed away Oct. 16, 2019.

Samuel was a member of Hurricane Fork General Baptist Church in Marble Hill. He was a meat cutter for many years at Central Packing in Cape Girardeau. He often helped with the sausage suppers at Hanover Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau, as well as the suppers at Millersville United Methodist Church.

Loving survivors include three children, Cathy Johnston Littleton of Oak Ridge, Lisa (Warren) Jarvis and Samuel I. "Sam" (Jill) Johnston Jr. of Jackson; grandchildren, Amanda Littleton, Hannah (Jeremiah) Shaw, Sarah (Joseph) Meyer and Summer Johnston; great-grandchildren, McKayla, Cheyenne, Ariel and Ezekiel Shaw and Benjamin, Logan, Sophia and Everett Meyer; and a brother, Linus (Nancy) Johnston of Jackson.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and 11 siblings.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. The funeral chapel will open at 11 a.m. Sunday. Interment will follow in Hurricane Fork General Baptist Church Cemetery.

Sam's family would like to offer many thanks to We Rise LLC and Crown Hospice for the loving and tender care given to Sam during his final days.
