Sherman E. Reed, 78, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Aug. 31, 1998, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born Dec. 7, 1919, at Eureka, son of Everett A. and Ethel H. Heisten Reed. He married Patricia McCarty, who died in 1957. He and Capitola "Cappy" McCulley were married Nov. 29, 1959, in Longview, Wash.
Reed worked at Peoples Utility Department in Longview for a number of years. He was then a steam plant engineer 18 years at International Paper Co., retiring in 1981.
He was a former member and deacon at Twentieth Avenue Baptist Church in Longview, and director of the SEAMEN Center there.
The Reeds moved to Cape Girardeau in 1991. He was a member of Lynwood Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Linda Gould of Port Orchard, Wash.; a brother, Ralph Reed of Alton, Ill.; two sisters, Mildred Adam of Carlinville, Ill., Mary William of Potosi; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and a grandson.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau from 5 to 8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Lynwood Baptist Church, with the Rev. Mark Anderson officiating. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum.
