Sherry Kay Lawson Hooe of Cape Girardeau passed away Monday, March 1, 2021, at the age of 63 at Duke University Hospital, surrounded by her husband and sons.
Sherry was born Dec. 4, 1957, in Gideon, Missouri, to the late Sam and Opal Fair Lawson. She was united in marriage to Dennis Hooe on Oct. 28, 1994, in Las Vegas.
Sherry worked at Saint Francis Medical Center as a pain clinic manager until 2009, when she retired.
She enjoyed sewing and making quilts, fishing, spending time at the lake, and most of all, enjoyed time with her children and grandchildren.
Sherry is survived by her husband, Dennis Hooe; three sons, Matthew Williams and wife Lori of Sullivan, Missouri, James Hooe and wife Jennifer of Columbus, Georgia, and Corey Hooe of Kansas City, Missouri; three brothers, Sam Lawson, Roger Lawson and wife Barbara of Portageville, Missouri, and Ernie Lawson and wife Kim of Cape Girardeau; one sister, Florence Dugger and husband Paul of Sikeston, Missouri; four grandchildren, Aubree and Alexandra Williams and Michael and Charlotte Hooe; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Opal Lawson, and one sister, Janie Davis.
Visitation will be from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral chapel, with the Rev. David Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery in Morley, Missouri.
