MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Shirley Mae Eaker, 76, of Marble Hill died Thursday, March 31, 2022, at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau following a valiant fight with COVID-pneumonia.
Born on May 19, 1945, in Lutesville, Missouri, she was the daughter of Hoot Martin and Gladys Mae Welker Martin Lincoln.
From the age of 16 she worked for a living. She worked in restaurants, the nursing facilities of Bond's Nursing Home and Missouri Veterans Home, as a dispatcher and jailer for the Bollinger County Sheriff's Office, as a jail matron and cook for the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's Office, and for the past 25 years as a private home health care worker. She cheerfully and diligently served her clients and their families.
Shirley is survived by three daughters, Connie Sue (Kevin) Anderson of Farmington, Missouri; Cheryl Lynne (Mike) Rockel of St. Louis; and Misti Dawn Eaker of California; brother, Michael Lincoln; sister, Bonnie Haynes; four grandchildren, Galen M. Yeargain, Corey S. Eaker, Tyler C. Rockel and Drew M Rockel; two stepgrandchildren, Brittney A. Korte and Blakely A. Parrott; and three great-grandchildren, Chase, Cash and Kate Yeargain.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Larry and Gary Martin and Ronnie, Roger and Ike Lincoln; and sisters, Donna K. Rambo and Dorothy King.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hutchings Funeral Chapel.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Elijah Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Baker Cemetery near Marble Hill.
