DEXTER, Mo. -- Funeral for Shirley Jean Messer of Dexter will be held at 1 p.m. today at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield, Mo. The Rev. Dale Hendrix will officiate. Burial will be in Walker Cemetery near Bloomfield.

Messer, 67, died Ssunday, Sept. 2, 2001, at Dexter.

She was born Aug. 29, 1934, at Essex, Mo., daughter of Carl and Edith Scutter Curneal. She married Donald Messer, who died Oct. 29, 1993.

Messer lived at Bloomfield most of her life, moving to Dexter a year ago. She was retired from Elder Manufacturing Co. and attended the Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include a son, Rick Bostic of Bloomfield; three brothers, Delmar Curneal of Troy, Mo., Lindell Curneal of Florissant, Mo., Glenn Curneal of Chaffee, Mo.; a sister, Wanda Alford of Bloomfield; and a grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
