Shirley Shirlene Ellis Riley, 92, of Cape Girardeau passed away Saturday, March, 20, 2021, at her home.
She was born Dec. 11, 1928, in Sikeston, Missouri, to Oren Otho and Rosa Mae Simmons Ellis. She and Marshall F. Riley were married Aug. 24, 1946, in Cape Girardeau. He preceded her in death Sept. 23, 2010.
Shirley lived her early years in Oreo, Missouri, and later moved to Cape Girardeau, where she grew up and lived for more than 75 years.
Shirley worked for International and Florsheim Shoe companies for more than 42 years. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, the Joy Club and the Women's Mission Union at the church. She was a former member of the Gideon Bible Auxiliary.
Survivors include two sons, Donald Ray (Marty) Riley Sr. and David Eugene (girlfriend, Diane Jackson) Riley Sr., both of Cape Girardeau; stepdaughter-in-law, Karen Riley of Cape Girardeau; three brothers, Elwood "Bud" (LaVerne) Ellis of Jackson; Gene Ellis of Casey, Illinois; and Oren (Karen) Ellis Jr. of Perryville, Missouri; two sisters, Shirley Ellis of Cape Girardeau and Judy (Homer) Davis of Louisville, Kentucky; 10 grandchildren, Shawn (Mindy) Riley, Donald Riley Jr., Jeff (Amy) Riley, Sarah (Eli) Flowers, Anthony (Chelsea) Riley, David (Tammy) Riley Jr., Adam (Paige) Riley, Nick Riley, Kathy Jobe and Tina Brown; 15 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall F. Riley; father, Oren Otho Ellis; mother, Rosa Mae Ellis; stepson, Marshall Dean Riley; brother, Harold Ellis; and two sisters-in-law.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donny Ford and Dr. Shawn Wasson officiating. Burial will be at Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
