CAIRO, Ill. -- Graveside service for Steven Allan Carpenter of Paducah, Ky., will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday at U.S. National Cemetery in Mound City. Chaplain Jim Gearhart will officiate.
There is no visitation.
Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo is in charge of arrangements.
Carpenter, 42, died Wednesday, May 12, 1999, in Paducah.
He was born Aug. 22, 1956, in Cairo, son of Alvin and Lois Tucker Carpenter.
Carpenter was a truck driver with Trailer Transit Inc. of Porter, Ind. He was a former police officer in Cairo. He was a member of the American Radio Relay League.
He served in the U.S. Air Force and Secret Service as an explosives specialist.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Lois and Carl Nelms of Paducah; two sisters, Terri Prado of Barlow, Ky., and Nancy Walker of Wickliffe, Ky.
He was preceded in death by his father.
