Thomas Joseph "Tom" Scherer, 62, of Anniston, Mo., died Saturday, Dec. 24, 2005, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was born March 6, 1943, in Benton, Mo., son of Cletus Charles and Celeste Amelia Enderle Scherer. He and Kay Peters were married Oct. 10, 1966...

Thomas Joseph "Tom" Scherer, 62, of Anniston, Mo., died Saturday, Dec. 24, 2005, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born March 6, 1943, in Benton, Mo., son of Cletus Charles and Celeste Amelia Enderle Scherer. He and Kay Peters were married Oct. 10, 1966.

Scherer was employed with the Gemeinhardt Seed Co. and had served as past alderman and mayor of Anniston. He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church in Charleston, Mo., and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Gina Graham of Carrier Mills, Ill., Heather Vaughan of O'Fallon, Mo.; five brothers, Charles and Cletus Scherer of Benton, James Scherer of Nashville, Tenn., Harold Scherer of Midlothian, Texas, Daniel Scherer of Fairview, Tenn.; four sisters, Ruth Cashion and Celeste Nenninger of Cape Girardeau, Clara Grider of Cincinnati, Ann Stuckey of Benton; and three grandchildren.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Jeff Vaughan officiating. Burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie, Mo.
