Velma Ruth Jackson, 90, of Cape Girardeau passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at the Lutheran Home. She was born April 17, 1921, in Vanduser, Mo., daughter of Thomas F. and Bertha R. Robinson Irvin. She and Willard Eugene Hankins were married June 13, 1938, in Vanduser. She and Finnas Andrew "Bill" Jackson were married Aug. 18, 1951. He passed away June 25, 1979...

Velma Ruth Jackson, 90, of Cape Girardeau passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at the Lutheran Home.

She was born April 17, 1921, in Vanduser, Mo., daughter of Thomas F. and Bertha R. Robinson Irvin. She and Willard Eugene Hankins were married June 13, 1938, in Vanduser. She and Finnas Andrew "Bill" Jackson were married Aug. 18, 1951. He passed away June 25, 1979.

Velma was a teacher in the Morley (Scott County Central) School District 35 years. She was a member of Morley Church of God from childhood until moving to the Cape Girardeau area, where she attended West Side Church of God. She was an active leader of the Women of Church of God.

Loving survivors include a son, William E. "Bill" (Helen) Jackson of Jackson; two granddaughters, Denah (Roger) Siebert of Millersville and Susanne (Sterling) Proctor of Benton, Mo.; four great-grandchildren, Michael and Colby Siebert, and Matthew and Mitchell Proctor.

She was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Rev. Jim Matthews, pastor of Cape County Cowboy Church, will officiate. Interment will be in Old Morley Cemetery at Morley.

The family suggests memorials be made to Morley Church of God.
