Vera B. Leimer, 78, of Saxony Village in Cape Girardeau passed away Sunday, Nov. 26, 2006, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Sept. 11, 1928, in Pocahontas, daughter of the late Herbert F. and Ida O. Palisch Lichtenegger. She and Tillman A. "Timmie" Leimer were married Oct. 7, 1945, in Pocahontas.

Vera was a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Pocahontas, where she was baptized Sept. 23, 1928, and confirmed March 29, 1942. She was active in the Ladies Aid, the women's group and formerly taught Sunday school.

She worked 21 years at Bowman Milling Co. in Pocahontas, retiring in 1996. She also had performed soil tests for the ASCS office in Jackson. She and Timmie lived and farmed at Pocahontas until they moved to Fruitland in 1981. In 2000 they moved to Saxony Village.

Vera was a member of the former Pocahontas Homemakers Club and was a former 4-H leader.

Loving survivors include her husband, Tillman, of Cape Girardeau; two sons, Fred (Lisa) Leimer of Pocahontas, Ted (Kathy) Leimer of Pocahontas; a daughter, Connie (David) Hoffman of St. Louis; and two brothers, Floyd (Dorothy) Lichtenegger and Herbert (Barb) Lichtenegger, both of Jackson.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Heather (Mike) Little, Erica (Dean) Eggerding, Christy and Melissa Leimer, Austin Leimer, Alex and Logan Harris; and four great-grandchildren, Olivia and Sophie Little, Cole and Chloe Eggerding.

Friends may call today from 4 to 8 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, and Wednesday after 9:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pocahontas.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the church, with the Rev. Bruce. C. Ritter officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
