Verna Ethel Bilek, 80, of Millersville passed away Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Aug. 13, 1932, near Millersville, daughter of Roy Z. and Ethel Ross Brennecke. She and Edward L. Bilek were married Dec. 22, 1950, in Cape Girardeau. He passed July 5, 2005.

Verna was a 1950 graduate of College High School. For a period of time after high school, she worked at Southeast Hospital. She was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church near Millersville.

Loving survivors include a son, Harold (Virginia) Bilek of Millersville; three daughters, Connie (Joe) Schaefer of St. Peters, Mo., Diane Dahl (special friend, Mike Lukefahr) of Jackson and Lisa Bilek of Jackson; eight grandchildren, Amy (Mark) Schnuriger, Scott Schaefer, Brandy Bilek, Barbara Bilek, Kyle (Nicole) Bilek, Lacey (Justin) McCallister, Coleton Bilek and Carley Bilek; and seven great-grandchildren, Tyler, Emma, Kylie, Hunter, Brody, Riley and Destin.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Fletcher Bilek; a brother, Howard Brennecke; an infant brother Lloyd Brennecke; and a sister, Wilma Choate.

Friends may call from noon until service time today at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jerry Sander officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery near Millersville.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Fairview Cemetery Fund.
