Vernell Alma Boren, 81, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2001, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
She was born March 16, 1920, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Charles and Minnie Hagan Bock. She and Wilbur L. Boren were married April 17, 1938, at Benton, Mo. He died May 22, 1978.
Boren lived in Cape Girardeau all her life, with the exception of 11 years in McClure, Ill. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women and Wimodausis Circle, Cape Girardeau Senior Center, and Southeast Hospital Auxiliary.
Survivors include a son, William Boren of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Shirley Waterman and Carol Shaw of Cape Girardeau; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Clayton Smith officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
