MILLERSVILLE -- Vernon "Diamond" Monroe, 58, formerly of Millersville and East Cape Girardeau, Ill., died Monday, Aug. 14, 1995.

He was born Dec. 17, 1936, in Fruita, Colo., son of G.A. and Fanny Monroe.

Monroe was a carpenter and had been a car salesman in East Cape. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include two sons, Rocky Monroe of Elizabethtown, Ill., Lee Monroe of Eldorado, Ill.; two daughters, Lisa Hobbs of Cave-In-Rock, Ill., Michele Young of Eldorado; four brothers, four sisters, and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter.

Graveside service was held Aug. 18 at Bixby Cemetery in Bixby, Okla. The Rev. Vance Willey officiated.

Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado was in charge of arrangements.
