BETHALTO, Ill. -- Virginia L. Dominges, 93, of Bethalto died Friday, Dec. 22, 2006, at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton, Ill.
She was born Oct. 4, 1913, in Barlow, Ky., daughter of Thomas and Annetta Smith Carney. She and Harold Dominges were married Nov. 12, 1936, in Cairo, Ill. He preceded her in death May 25, 1984.
Mrs. Dominges owned and operated a general merchandise store in Sandusky, Ill., 40 years. She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Cairo.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Virginia and Ben Raby of Alton, Patricia and Wendell Honey of Olive Branch; three grandchildren, Heather Dohack and husband Tim, Tara Murphy, Travis Honey and wife Crystal; two great-grandchildren, Elsa Wible and Gabriel Dohack; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were five brothers, Harrel, Frankel, Cecil and Tom Carney, Thomas Irving; four sisters, Rose Carney, Artance Grace, Freda Brosell and Edna Carney.
Private graveside service was held Dec. 26, 2006, at Spencer Heights Memorial Park in Mounds, Ill.
Memorials may be made to First Southern Baptist Church in Cairo.
Gent Funeral Home in Alton was in charge of arrangements.
