Virginia LaFont, 88, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2000, at Delmar Garden in Chesterfield. She was born Nov. 21, 1911, at Gideon, daughter of Sam and Fannie Harris. She and Harry L. LaFont were married April 13, 1930, at Caruthersville. He died March 20, 1995...

Virginia LaFont, 88, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2000, at Delmar Garden in Chesterfield.

She was born Nov. 21, 1911, at Gideon, daughter of Sam and Fannie Harris. She and Harry L. LaFont were married April 13, 1930, at Caruthersville. He died March 20, 1995.

The LaFonts owned and operated LaFont Ice and Coal many years. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Ginger House of Cape Girardeau; two grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. Thursday.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Vincent's Church, with the Rev. Milton Ryan officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
