TROY, Mo. -- Wanda Durham, 91, of Troy passed away peacefully Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015, at the Elsberry Health Care Center. She was born on Sept. 30, 1924, in Hiram, Missouri, a daughter of the late Ulus Edger and Maude (Shetley) Haynes. Wanda married the love of her life, Edward Durham, on Nov. 20, 1942, and shared 71 years of marriage until his passing Dec. 24, 2013...

TROY, Mo. -- Wanda Durham, 91, of Troy passed away peacefully Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015, at the Elsberry Health Care Center.

She was born on Sept. 30, 1924, in Hiram, Missouri, a daughter of the late Ulus Edger and Maude (Shetley) Haynes. Wanda married the love of her life, Edward Durham, on Nov. 20, 1942, and shared 71 years of marriage until his passing Dec. 24, 2013.

Wanda retired from Bon Aire Beauty Salon in St. Louis. She served the Lord for many years and worked as a Sunday-school teacher. Wanda served as a Junior Training Union leader and junior superintendent and in the tape ministry. Ed and Wanda were youth directors. They helped start a co-ed class, and it grew to 103 within the department. They loved every minute of it. The two lovebirds spent many enjoyable years together, traveling, gardening, quilting, fishing and just living life together.

She is survived by a sister, Betty (David) Demelle of St. Louis; two sisters-in-law, Bernice Haynes of Jackson and Bonnie Haynes of Anna, Illinois; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings Joyce Fox, Keith Haynes, Gene "Doc" Haynes, Jerry Haynes, Robert "Glen" Haynes, Donald Haynes, Mary Falica, Fern Manns and Bernice Haynes.

A funeral service was held Monday at Kemper-Millard-Keim Family Funeral Chapels in Troy. Interment was private for the family at the Troy City Cemetery. Officiating the service was Brother Gary Berry.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in care of Kemper-Millard-Keim Family Funeral Chapels, P.O. Box 222, Troy, MO 63379.
