CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Wanda Irene Ryan, 88, of Chaffee died Friday, Dec. 17, 2010, at The Palms Medical Care Center in Sebring, Fla., following a brief illness.
She was born March 25, 1922, in Chaffee, daughter of James Paul and Edna Robbins Jones. She and Evans "E.H." Ryan were married Feb. 4, 1940.
Wanda was a graduate of Chaffee High School and a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Chaffee.
She is survived, admired, loved and missed by her husband, Evans of Chaffee; a daughter, Carol Cannon of Chaffee; five sisters, Norma Evans of Chaffee, Glenda Good of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Ann Isbell of Eaton Rapids, Mich., Marilyn Hunt (Carlton) of Arnold, Mo., Doris Ward of Chaffee; two brothers, Jim Jones (Barbara) of Cadillac, Mich., and Bill Jones (Maria) of Tampa, Fla.
Also five granddaughters, Karen Cannon Brown of Springfield, Mo., Kathi Cannon Stone (Tim) of Cape Girardeau, Lynn Ryan of Affton, Mo., Stacy Ryan Shelton (Ron) of Jonesboro, Ark., Kas Ryan of Oakland, Tenn.; two grandsons, Randall Ryan of Jonesboro, Chris Cannon (Pam) of Cape Girardeau; nine great-granddaughters, Andrea Ryan Crawford (Tommy) of Leachville, Ark., Kori Brown Skidmore (Travis) of Springfield, Kari Stone, Caitlin Cannon, Madison Cannon, Mackenzie Cannon, all of Cape Girardeau, Lindsay Tivoli of Affton, Brittany and Amanda Ryan of Leachville; four great-grandsons, Ryan and Reid Shelton of Jonesboro, Alex Stone of Cape Girardeau, Michael Ryan (Ashley) of Jacksonville, Ark.; a great-great-granddaughter, Bailey Crawford of Leachville; two great-great-grandsons, Gage Skidmore of Springfield, and Noah Cook of Leachville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sons John and Bob Ryan; and three brothers.
Wanda had a kind and loving spirit. She was feisty with a touch of sarcastic wit and a wonderful sense of humor. Through the years, Wanda and Evans loved to travel. Hawaii, Alaska and Jamaica were some of their favorite destinations. They spent their winters over the last 20 years as "snow birds" in Avon Park Fla., where they have many close friends. In addition to travel, Wanda enjoyed camping, reading, playing bingo and especially playing Yahtzee.
She loved God and her family and will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, and from 9 a.m. to service time Thursday at First Baptist Church in Chaffee.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church, with Matt Buttrum officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
Pallbearers will be Ron Shelton, Tim Stone, Randall Ryan, Chris Cannon, Travis Skidmore, Ryan Shelton, Alex Stone, Reid Shelton and Gage Skidmore.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Chaffee.
