Wayne Reynolds Gross, 86, of Jackson passed away Saturday, Aug. 1, 2020, at Monticello House.

He was born March 25, 1934, in Biscoe, Arkansas, to Perry A. and Viola A. Reynolds Gross. He and Nelda Hodge were married Jan. 9, 1984, in Cape Girardeau.

Wayne was an honorably discharged veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. He then worked 40 years as an engineer on the Cottonbelt Southern Pacific Railroad, retiring in 1996. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Fruitland.

Loving survivors include his wife of 36 years, Nelda Gross of Jackson; three daughters, Bonnie Sue Davenport of Jacksonville, Florida, Debbie Heisserer and Janet Lee Cattron, both of Jackson; a stepson, Randall Miller of Jackson; and three siblings, Annalee Rigdon, Dorothy Fowler and Larry Gross, all of Brinkley, Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to service time today at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bill Minor officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Fruitland.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Wesley United Methodist Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
